BFA Awards Nominees

The Bermuda Football Association is holding its awards ceremony for the 2019/20 season on August 29th 2020. The ceremony will take place at City Hall, Hamilton at 7:30 p.m.

 

The Association wishes to announce the nominees for the various awards to be presented at this year’s Awards Ceremony:

Goalkeeper of the Year:

 

Premier Division: Ajai Daniels (D. Rec), Tahj Bell (NVCC), Treadwell Gibbons (WSSC)

First Division: Corey Richardson (St Davids), Fredrick Hall (St  Geo), Jaden Mills-Furbert (D. Colts)

 

Defensive Player of the Year:

 

Premier Division: Azendae Furbert (WSSC), Jaylon Bather (R.Hood), McQuinn Burch (S’Rangers)

First Division: Chejon Berkeley (FOFC), Gregory Wade (St Geo), Terry Foote (D.Colts)

 

Young Player of the Year:

 

Premier Division: Jaizel Smith-DeShields (NVCC), Judah Chapman (WSSC), Nathan Rego(SBRC)

First Division: Jehkelyo Burgess (D. Colts), Lejuan Matthews (FOFC), Tre McCallan (St Geo)

 

Most Valuable Player of the Year:

 

Premier Division: Marco Warren (PHC), Seion Darrell (WSSC), Troy Tucker (NVCC)

First Division: Chemarl Henry (D. Colts), David Signor, (St Geo), Jared Peniston (Wolves)

 

Coach of the Year:

 

Premier Division: Dennis Brown (SCC), Devarr Boyles (WSSC), Kenny Thompson (NVCC)

First Division: Jarreau Hayward (St Geo), Ray Jones (D. Colts), Vincent Minors Jr. (Wolves)

 

The nomination process for the above awards was conducted in two phases. During the first phase club coaches were required to nominate individuals only from their team. Once all nominations were received from the clubs, the completed list of nominations were sent to theClubs for the second phase of nominating.

 

Once all nominations are received from the clubs, the list of nominations are compiled and sent to the Clubs for the second phase of nominating.  During the second phase, club coaches are required to select from the list of nominations.  During this phase the coaches can’t select a player from their own team.  Coaches must also rank the top 3 players of their choice in each category.  The top ranked player receives 5 points, 2nd ranked player receives 3 points and the 3rd ranked player receives 1 point.  The Award is presented to the player or coach who receives the most points.  

 

 Highest Goal Scorer

 

The winner of the Highest Goal Scorer Award is presented to the player in the Premier and First Division who scores the most goals only in Premier and First Division League matches.

 

Premier Division: Cecoy Robinson (PHC), Donovan Thompson (X-Roads), Lejuan Sinoms (R.Hood)

First Division: Chemarl Henry (D.Colts), Senoj Mitchell (D. Colts), Tyree Robinson (Wolves)

 

Fair Play Team Award:

 

The winner of the Fair Play Award is presented to the Team in the Premier and First Division who accumulates the east amount of penalty points derived from yellow and red cards received only in Premier and First Division League matches.

 

Premier Division: North Village CC, Robin Hood FC, X-Roads Warriors FC

First Division: Devonshire Colts FC, Flanagan’s Onions FC, Wolves Sports Club

 

Referee Awards:

 

The nominees for the Youth Referee of theYear, Young Referee of the Year and Referee of the Year Awards were chosen by the selection panel based on the following criteria:  Attendance to training, Application of theLaws of the Game during matches and performance on courses with local and FIFA /Concacaf instructors, assessments / feedback from local and FIFA / Concacaf instructors and Match Commissioners.

 

Youth Referee of the Year: Emily Cabral, Koa Goodchild, Satia Burchall

 

Young Referee of the Year: Adriel Charles, Amaury Majors, Mateo Donowa

 

Referee of the Year: Dwight Jackson, Lloyd Christopher, Tashun Simons

 

Order of Merit Awards:

 

The Bermuda Football Association (BFA) Order of Merit is awarded as a token of appreciation to any person or organization who has served the Association or the game of football in an exemplary manner, whether in a professional or voluntary capacity, while demonstrating meritorious commitment, by holding the image and integrity of the sport through development, social delivery and other forms of positive activity.  

 

The Association will bestow the Order of Merit to:

 

Hilton Wolfe, Charlotte Simmons, Elroy Ratteray, Larry “Muscles”Hunt, and Bermuda Senior National Men’s Team -Gold Cup 2019
