Bermuda Win 5-0 over Aruba

The Bermuda SMNT continued their World Cup Qualifying campaign with a comfortable 5-0 win over Aruba on Tuesday, March, 30th at the IMG Academy, in Florida.

Head Coach Kyle Lightbourne made three changes to his starting line from the first match against Canada. E. Russell started in place for C. Robinson and K. Bean replaced C. Brangman in the forward positions. J. Furbert also started in place of J. Outerbridge.

Kane Crichlow opened the scoring with his second goal on his second appearance for the SMNT after he volleyed in a cross from the left side delivered by J. Furbert. The score was doubled before the end of the first half as K. Bean’s cross was headed in by centre-back, J. Bather.

Early on in the second half, Bermuda increased their lead to 3 with a goal from the Captain, D.Leverock.

Just minutes after being substituted on, K. Scott scored to make it 4-0 after a cross from substitute Z. Lewis. C. Brangman had a chance to make it 5 after a 1-on-1 with the Aruba goalkeeper in the 70th minute of the game, however his shot was saved. K. Crichlow added the fifth and final goal of the match in the 80th minute after beating two defender and beating the keeper with a low near-post shot.

After the opening two matches of the World Cup Qualifiers, Bermuda is placed in 3rd, in Group B, under first placed Canada, and Suriname. The World Cup Qualifiers return on June 4th, in which Bermuda will take on Suriname. The final match of Group B will take place on June 8th, against the Cayman Islands.
