Appleby Youth Finals Preview

An exciting afternoon of football will be on display this Saturday with the 2022 Appleby Youth Knockout Cup finals being held at The Flora Duffy South Field Stadium. Four finals will be contested starting with the Under 13 B division final at 12:00pm. The Under 13 A Division final is slated for 2:00pm followed by the Under 15 final at 4:00pm and the Under 17 final at 6:00pm.

FC Bascome Gold will square off against Somerset Trojans at 12:00pm in the Under 13 B division final. FC Bascome defeated Devonshire Colts in a penalty shootout after both teams battled to a 1-1 draw. Cairo Tucker gave Colts a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute, but Tom Hyland equalized just three minutes later, sending the match to a penalty shootout where FC Bascome overcame Colts 4-3. Somerset Trojans overcame a young North Village White team 6-1 to earn their place in the final. Leziyae Jones-Smith and Namazio Dill each scored braces for the winners, with Callum McIntosh and Amir Outerbridge each scoring as well. Kaiyuri Albouy scored the lone goal for North Village.

The Under 13 A division final will feature Dandy Town and Warwick Archers at 2:00pm. Kimani Davis scored the lone goal for the Archers in their 1-0 over PHC in a tightly contested semifinal. Dandy Town booked their ticket to the final with a 5-1 victory over Vasco Youth Program. DeMiyaz Trott and Dakayo Leverock led the Hornets with two goals each. Azende Trott-Smith and Kodi Hinds chipped in with a goal each, with Masaki Kitade scoring for Vasco.

The Warwick Archers will also feature in the Under 15 final when they face FC Bascome at 4:00pm. The Archers got single strikes from Keiaron Bean, Sebestian Madeiros, Cole Pedro, Edward Perinchief Ingham and Chance Eve in their 5-1 win over Somerset Trojans. Enrique Mendes scored the lone goal for the Trojans. Enoch Joseph and Gianni Burgess both scored hattricks in FC Bascome’s semifinal win over Dandy Town. Gianni Burgess and Alessandro Davis added two goals each, with James Morrison, Rickardo Phipps and Jutorre Burgess also finding the back of the net.

The Under 17 final at 6:00pm will feature the league’s top two sides when Warwick Archers face Somerset Trojans. Both teams currently sit atop of the league table with 19 points each after a draw and each team recording a victory over the other. Warwick defeated PHC 6-0 on Monday night’s curtain raiser semifinal. Archers got two goals each from Harry Twite and Tajai Goater with Kallan Simmons and Daniel Cook adding a goal each. The Trojans needed a penalty shootout to overcome a spirited Dandy Town after the match in a 3-3 draw in the other semifinal. The west enders overcame a 3-1 deficit before sending the match into a penalty shootout. Each team scored four penalties each before heading to sudden death. Trojan goalkeeper Nkenge Durham saved the Hornets next spot kick before Ianzi Bascome converted his penalty to send the west enders into the final.
