Dandy Town Hornets played with inspirations and emotions during their semi-final match against Devonshire Cougars blanking them (4-nil) in the Premier Division advancing to the finals of the Dudley Eve Cup competition. It was a well deserved victory for the Hornets, after they lost teammate Machai Campbell earlier during the week in a road traffic accident.
The first (25) minutes of the match the game was evenly balanced. From that point forward you could see the pace of the game change in favor of the Hornets. After (33) minutes down Hayes Wolfe opened the account for the Hornets, putting them up (1) nil. The score remained that way until half time.
Head Coach Scott Morton showed why he has taken over as the new man in charge for the Hornets. Since he arrived in the hot seat, Morton has raised the teams overall performance in league games and now cup competitions. With the Hornets playing against the wind in the second half, they continued to press forward. Central midfielder, Nahki Wells displayed a performance like no other as he controlled the entire game, spraying the ball around the field finding the open man, and pin point precession passing allowing the his teammates to run onto the ball. With that said, Wells and the Hornets opened the flood gates on Cougars, finding the back of the net (3) times in the second half, with goals coming from Lashon Dill, Raymond Beach and Jahron Dickerson.
Hornets will now meet Boulevard Blazers in the finals of the Premier Division, Dudley Eve Cup competition Tuesday night starting at 9pm.
