As many as (50) players turned out for the Bermuda Football Association (BFA) first day of trials for the National Academy program.
Players born in 1997 and 1998 attended the morning session and the afternoon session at the Bermuda Football Association training facility in Prospect, Devonshire. Technical Director, Derek Broadley and Technical Youth Director, Devarr Boyles, put the young players through a number of sessions. Overall, the two directors were pleased with the performance from all players involved.
The National Academy will be introduced based on the European Academy system whereby; players will be trained year-round and assessed annually on their progression in football. This structure will be the breeding ground for the future national team players that compete in international competition for Bermuda. Each player will be selected based on their birth year and will follow a structured development program that will enable them to fulfill their potential. Players along with their parent/guardians will sign an agreement with the BFA to follow their “code of practice” that is in place under the guidance of FIFA’s code of conduct.
