The Bermuda Football Association (BFA) is pleased to announce the first ever official FIFA sponsored Futsal Course in Bermuda. Futsal is commonly referred to as the small-sided game made popular by the Brazilians which is played indoors on flat, smooth and non-abrasive surfaces, preferably made of wood or artificial material. A match is played by two teams, each consisting of not more than five players, one of whom is the goalkeeper.
FIFA Futsal Instructor, Mr. Graeme Dell will spearhead the course which takes place on Saturday, April 28and Sunday, April 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Monday, April 30, Tuesday, May 1 and Wednesday, May 2 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Course will be held at the CedarBridge Academy.
Graeme Dell comes with a wealth of coaching experience, in particular, as it relates to the game of Futsal. Graeme was employed as the England FA’s National Futsal Coach from the very beginning when the EFA’s Futsal Program started in 2003 and led the first ever England Futsal Team in the 2004 UEFA Futsal Championships. Graeme led England in 51 international Futsal matches including the 2006 UEFA Futsal Championship and the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup before stepping down in March 2008.
In 2011, Graeme became one of FIFA’s elite Coaching Instructors. This significant role combines delivering coach education course around the world and assisting FIFA’s member Associations, whilst acting as an ambassador for the game of Futsal. Graeme has had the distinct honor of working with such re-known coaches as Sir Bobby Robson, Roy Hodgson, Don Howe, Les Reed and England’s most successful youth team coach to date Ted Powell.
Graeme’s expertise as a progressive, innovative coach and player educator is widely recognized throughout football having coached in over 300 international fixtures. He is one of England’s most experienced international coaches across all sports. Media reports suggest he is a no-nonsense, focused and disciplined coach receiving wide acclaim from players and coaches alike.
Meanwhile, 30 local coaches representing BFA’s member clubs will participate in the course. The Opening Ceremony will take on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and the Closing Ceremony will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. All media are invited to attend.
