Update on the BFA field
For the past few months construction work has been taking place at the soon to be new Bermuda Football Association, training facilty field, located in Prospect, Devonshire. This is a goal of the (BFA) to have their first ever football field of thier own.

The BFA is pleased to report on our progress at BFA Field and we are happy with such progress. As can be seen, the field is taking shape quite nicely and we are getting to level for the sub-surface.

We are behind a little on the site and the synthetic surface should be laid in September. Since we have been working on the project for about 5 years, this delay is not significant.

We have spent some additional time getting the under-field infrastructure in place.  The site had live electrical, water and BTC lines running through it. We have had had to retrench all of those lines into one major trench. We have worked with all the utilities to get that done and we thank them.

Additionally, we have had to trench under the field all of the lighting, regular electrical and water conduit infrastructure and get the light pole holes dug and poles erected.

We have built the various retaining walls and buttresses to support the field, safety fencing and driveway.

We have installed a full drainage system around the perimeter of the field and drilled several boreholes to run water off the site, including torrents of water that runs out of Police Comops  onto the field. We have worked with Government to get that done and we thank them.

We have had a project manager from FieldTurf inspect the field recently. He was pleased with the project and assured us that, as it was the first project of this kind in Bermuda, it was important to take our time and get everything right rather than rush and make errors.

We have had the FIFA synthetic surface inspector Dr Harrison visit this past weekend. He was very happy with the progress of the project and concurred with the FieldTurf official to take our time and get everything right rather than rush and make errors.

We are pleased now that FieldTurf has landed in Bermuda about 10 shipping containers of materials of turf grids, rubber and sand to be used for the installation of the synthetic surface. The synthetic field has been shipped from the factory and we await its delivery along with a few more containers of materials and equipment.

At the field we will soon see the final leveling of the subsurface, to be inspected and signed off by the FIFA inspector Dr. Harrison after which the FieldTurf team arrives to install the field. Concurrent to that will be the installation of safety fencing, building of an electrical
vault room and the connection of the electrical supply to the floodlights and site.

We are excited about the progress of the project and determined to get every aspect correct for the Family of Football. We have commenced planning usage for the site and we are happy that the BFA will have a top class facility as its home for development and national team training.

We look forward to having the synthetic surface and lights installation completed soon.
