2nd annual NSCAA State Diploma course Goalkeepers clinic was a success
20 goalkeepers and 28 coaches attended the course
The second National Soccer Coaching Course Association of America (NSCAA State Diploma) and the Goalkeeper clinic were held this past weekend. Bermuda Football Association (BFA) Technical Director, Derek Broadley and Vic Bettinelli, Head Goalkeeping Coach and Assistant Youth Team Coach for Fulham FC, held a combined clinic at Pembroke Hamilton Club grounds in Warwick, Saturday morning.

The course was well attended, as many as (20) goalkeepers and (28) coaches were in attendance learning from the best of the best.

The goalkeeper’s course entailed basic fundamentals for its position, strengths and weakness highlighted by coach Bettinelli while on his visit and drills to improve their overall game. For those goalkeeper’s who attended the course, it was truly an eye opener as they were able to gather a wealth of knowledge considering  a position that does not get the attention it truly deserves throughout the island. The age ranged from (6) – (32) that included male and females looking to improve on their game.

Meanwhile (28) new coaches came out for the first time as they participated in the National Soccer Coaching Course Association of America(NSCAA State Diploma) spearheaded by Technical Director, Derek Broadley.

The course is designed to introduce fun for all ages for coaches, starting as young as (5) working through their teens. The State Diploma is a five-hour course directed toward the person newly involved in coaching soccer. It is designed to help coaches working with players in the 5- to 10-year age range. Special emphasis is placed on understanding the physiological and psychological differences of coaching children.
The course is designed to emphasize that the game itself essentially is the teacher and the focus of the coach at this level clearly is as facilitator.

The curriculum focuses on the organization of a practice session, using small-sided games to enhance knowledge and fun, basic understanding of the Laws of the Game and information about the care and prevention of injuries.
