The Bermuda Football Association would like to thank the Bermuda Government for allowing us to have our National Senior Men’s Football team bid farewell to our beloved sports fans who continue to support the Family of Football. The next stage of the World Cup will be a true testament as we are about to take on Trinidad & Tobago, who competed in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
The Deputy Premier will join in the celebrations on the steps of City Hall, and speak to our National team Wednesday, June 11th at 1:15pm. The Deputy Premier’s remarks will be carried live on our local radio stations that will be covering this special sports event.
Other dignitaries will be in attendance who will speak as well; The Mayor of Hamilton, Minister of Youth & Sports, Opposition Sports Minister, BFA President, National Team Head Coach, and National Team Captain. In total we expect (7) speeches for the afternoon covering no more than (3) minutes per speech. We must take into consideration the heat and humidity for our beloved football and sports fans of Bermuda
Brief History on the National Senior Men’s Team
· Bermuda played Cayman Islands in their first stage of the World Cup Qualifier February 3rd in Bermuda and March 30th, in the Cayman Islands. From that, the team has advanced to the next round of the World Cup.
· An (18) men squad will be traveling to T & T along with a coaching staff of (3)
· Bermuda departs the following day, Thursday June 12th, and play in Trinidad Sunday June 15th and return Monday June 16th. The (2nd) leg of the series will be played Sunday, June 22nd at the National Sports Centre
· For the past (3) weeks Head Coach Kenny Thompson has stepped up the training and players have responded positively
· T&T will have at least (4) Professional players in their squad however we will come out winners as this will be a team effort.
· Bermuda “Gombey Warriors,” will out shoot and out play Trinidad and Tobago “Soca Warriors,” in the next stage of the World Cup Qualifier
