Construction is well underway at the new Bermuda Football Association (BFA) Gym Field in Prospect Devonshire. It was only last month that the BFA announced the start of the construction at its new facility; well much has been going on during that time as their goal is to have the job completed by the start of the new 2008/09 season.
Most recently, Clubs have had the opportunity to gather gravel, soil and the likes to make improvements on their respective grounds. A number of Clubs have taken full advantage of this most recent gesture and now a wave of trucks has unloaded the materials. With only (3) months remaining before the start of the 2008/09 campaign season Clubs are looking to have a better playing surface come next season.
This new facility will become the Association’s new Technical Centre for football throughout Bermuda paving the way as it will supplement existing facilities, allowing the BFA to run its development programes yearly and providing a valuable training resource for all national teams whenever required; this also includes clubs who would like to train/practice. The facility will be provided with floodlights for teams to train/practice in the evening.
When completed, this will become an historical moment for the BFA Family of Football, for this will be the field facility they can house its own training and development programmes.
The overall cost is $1.3 million, funded through the FIFA GOAL program.
