Bermuda Football Association received an overwhelming response for hosting their first ever National Soccer Coaching Association of America (NSCAA) course, headed up by Technical Director Derek Broadley. Not only was it a success but coaches are asking for the BFA, to provide another course within a matter of weeks. With that said; the BFA will introduce a second course for all local coaches who are interested in participating in the National Soccer Coaching Association of America (NSCAA) on Saturday, 21 June. The coaching course will be conducted by Bermuda Football Association Technical Director, Derek Broadley, from 10am - 4pm.  The NSCAA State Diploma is a five-hour course, designed to help coaches working with players in the 5 to 10 year age range. Special emphasis will be placed on understanding the physiological and psychological differences of coaching children. The emphasis is that the game itself is the teacher and the focus of the coach at this level clearly is as facilitator.

 

The curriculum focuses on the organization of a practice session, using small-sided games to enhance knowledge and fun, basic understanding of the Laws of the Game and information about the care and prevention of injuries. There is no test required for the NSCAA State Diploma. All candidates must be at least 14 years of age at the time of application.  If a candidate is under 18 years of age, an adult must accompany him or her for the duration of the course.  The course is open to all coaches on the Island who work with children, and it’s FREE!!!  All Coaches must register with the BFA by Wednesday, 18 June, at ^5:00pm.

 

 The course outline will be: 

 

·       Candidates should arrive by 9:45am to fill out forms.

·       Course will start at 10:00am with a theory session.

·       Lunch will be from 12:30pm – 1:00pm
