Local coaches turn out for the National Soccer Coaching Association of America course
Bermuda Football Association (BFA) Technical Director, Derek Broadley, conducted his first coaching course in Bermuda, when he presented the National Soccer Coaching Association of America (NSCAA) coaching course on Saturday May 10th, at the Bermuda College Gymnasium.
In total (36) coaches attended the (NSCAA) which is designed to help coaches work with players in the (5) – (10) year age range. Special emphasis was placed on understanding the physiological and psychological differences of coaching children. The curriculum focused on the organization of a practice session, using small-sided games to enhance knowledge and fun, basic understanding of the Laws of the Game and information about the care and prevention of injuries.
There was no testing in the State Diploma course as it was geared to the beginner or all BFA C licensed coaches. All of the coaches who completed the State Diploma Course received a ticket to attend the Bermuda Hogges vs the Pittsburg RiverHounds, on behalf of the Bermuda Football Association.
The course was attended by the BFA President, Larry Mussenden, 1st VP Cal Blankendal, 2nd V.P Gregory Grimes and General Secretary Sabir, who all showed their support and pleasure in seeing the association develop Bermuda’s youth coaches throughout the island.
Technical Director, Derek Broadley, was truly pleased with the large turnout and wishes to thank Young Men’s Social Club (YMSC) and Tre Ming of PHC for participating in the practical component of the (5) hour course. A special acknowledgment goes out to Appleby who once again allowed all of the participants to attend free of charge due to their generous sponsorship of the BFA’s Youth program.
