On a glorious but cool Wednesday evening, the Bermuda Football Association (BFA) held their All-Star match at the National Sports Centre. A total of (8) goals were scored between the Premier and First division matches, with the West coming away victorious on both occasions.
In the first match of the evening, Jahni Bean, of Southampton Rangers scored the one and only goal for in the game as he put the West ahead with a powerful right footed shot inside the (18) yard box, after he received a cross from the left side flank. The lone goal came a few minutes after the start of the second half.
The East came alive after that goal but was unable to answer, with the West holding their own during the second half. In the end, it was the West raising the All-Star cup, winning 1-nil.
In the night cap, All- Star player for the West, Johnny Bean, of Ireland Rangers scored (2) goals as he led his team to victory in a high scoring affair 4-3 against the East. Thanks to Kijon Franks, of Devonshire Cougars, All-Star for the East, scored the first goal of the match, when he scored an own goal. The East pulled one back, when Phil Anderson of Devonshire Cougars, rose above the defense to head home a perfect cross from the right flank. At half time, the teams were leveled at 1-1.
In the second half, Johnny Bean, scored his first of two goals when he was in right place and the right time after East goalkeeper Dwayne Adams made an attempt to push the ball over the bar, however it hit the crossbar and landed in front of Bean who made no mistake. Shane Hollis, of North Village Rams pulled one back for the East, when he received a long throw in from outside the (18) yard box headed on and he followed up with a right footed shot, to find the back of the net. Minutes later, Johnny Bean put the West ahead once again, when he scored his second goal of the game. Keston Lewis, of PHC put the west ahead by (2) goals when he scored from close range after goal mouth scramble. The East never gave up, as they continued to press forward; Robert Wilson of North Village Rams closed the gap, when he scored from a goal mouth scramble just outside the (6) yard box.
In the end, the West held onto their (1) goal lead winning (4-3)
