FIFA Goal Project
The Bermuda Football Association is pleased to announce the start of construction on the new BFA Field, known as the Gym Field, located in Prospect, Devonshire next to the Police Compound.
History is in the making for the football fraternity and the sporting bodies of Bermuda, as this new state of art artificial synthetic surface will be rolled out just prior to the 2008/09 season as this will become the first of its kind to grace our island. This new facility will become the associations new Technical Centre for football throughout Bermuda paving the way as it will supplement existing facilities, allowing the BFA to run its development programmes yearly and providing a valuable training resource for all national teams whenever required. This also includes clubs who would like to train/practice. The facility will have floodlights as well. This will be an historical moment for the BFA because this will be the first ever field facility they can house its own training and development programmes.
The overall cost is $1.3million, funded through the FIFA Gold program, and the BFA.
With only (4) months to the start of the 2008/09 season, and if all goes according to plan, it’s anticipated by September 2008, the FIFA Goal project will become available for our men’s and boy’s national team training programmes, women’s and girl’s development programmes, referee development and club activities.
These premises will also be the home of CedarBrigde Academy students for their gym activity.
The project will be done over several phases, during the next few months that will include:
· Mobilization
· Site Clearance
· Light Poles
· Retaining Wall
· Fielding Leveling/Turf
· Field Turf-Mobilize
· Fence
