What can only be described as a true testament of professionalism, the Bermuda National senior men’s football team performed well against Chelsea Reserves in a friendly match played during the midday on Thursday.
Bermuda could have opened their account in the first half from the penalty spot; however nerves may have set in for Omar Shakir, as the Chelsea goalkeeper dove to his left to make a perfect save.
For the next (60) minutes Bermuda played some good football against the powered Chelsea FC, however once they opened the scoring, the flood gates started to open as (3) more goals were scored within a (10) minute period.
It may have been fitness, or lack of concentration, however you look at it much was learned playing against some of the world’s finest players who just so happen to be professionals.
The coaching staff was pleased with the team’s performance, considering they’ve only had (3) days of training in London. It clearly shows the more match practice and training on regular basis improvements will come.
As for the (19) men squad, they were pleased with the professional atmosphere, the experience and knowledge they gained in just (1) week.
The squad and coaching staff return home Friday evening, and continue with their training sessions as they prepare for Trinidad & Tobago next month in the World Cup qualifier.
