Trojans, Colts, Eagles and Warriors advance to the next round
The Second half of the Bermuda Football Association (BFA) season got underway with Cup Competition on Sunday, as the quarter-finals of the Shield Competition in the First Division took place.
 
Runners up in the First Division Dudley Eve Cup finals, Somerset Trojans, needed extra time to hold off Prospect United (2-1) at Devonshire Recreation field. Thanks to Adrian Burrows, he found the back of the net that sealed the victory for the Trojans. Tahj Wade opened the scoring for Somerset in the (39th) minute giving his team a (1-nil) lead going into half-time. However in the (60th) minute Jerry Laws scored the equalizer that sent the game into extra time.
 
In other matches, First Division Dudley Eve Champions, St. Georges Colts moved onto the next round after beating Bermuda Athletic Association (3-1) at Somerset Cricket Club ground. Jelani Carlington opened the scoring in the first half for the Colts as he found the back of the net in the (22) minute. In the (67th) minute, Damon Darrell doubled the lead and in the (68th) minute Macai Simmons put the game out of reach by scoring the third goal for his team. (BAA) scored a consultation goal in the (79th) minute, thanks to Derek Sampler.
 
At White Hill field, St. David’s Warriors walked all over Ireland Rangers (5-1). The Warriors scored three goals in the first half that pretty much set the tone of the game. After being up three nil, Warriors continue to pile on the pressure as they scored twice in the second half. Goals from Anthony Burchall, Angelo Cannonier and Dano Outerbridge made it 3 – nil for the Warriors by half-time.  Rangers pulled one back after Yusef Pitt, found the back of the net for Ireland Rangers with ten minutes to go. Veteran Otis Minors continued to add to the onslaught for the Warriors as he found the back of the net to make it (4-1). With only (2) minutes remaining, Warriors striker, George O’Brien Jr. scored in the (87th) minute for St. David’s to make the final score (5 – 1).
 
And at Lord’s in St. David’s, Somerset Eagles blanked X’Raods (1-nil). Thanks to Darrin Dowling, as he scored the lone goal of this match in the (60th) minute.
